Facebook Announces Lead Ads Are Now Available to Advertisers Everywhere

New Update from Facebook today:

Now lead ads are available to advertisers everywhere with a host of additional features that make signing up for business information easy for people and more valuable for businesses. Here are the details on this new ad type that connects businesses with the people who want to hear from them.

Find the people that want to hear from your business:
Whether businesses want to encourage people to sign up for their newsletter, an offer, an event or more information about their product, lead ads simplify the mobile sign up process, helping businesses hear from people interested in their business.
When someone clicks on your lead ad, a form opens with the person’s contact information automatically populated, based on the information they share with Facebook, like their name and email address. Automatically populating the contact information that people share with Facebook makes filling in the form as fast as two taps: one click on the ad to open the form and another to submit the autofilled form. Like all of our ad types, lead ads were built with privacy in mind. People can edit their contact information before submitting the form, and this information isn’t sent to the business until a person clicks “submit.”

How to set up lead ads:
Creating lead ads is easy. Simply choose your ad creative, set your targeting and bidding type and then customize your form fields.
  1. Access to your business’s Facebook Page.
  2. The URL to your business’s privacy policy.
  3. An image for your ad.

When you’re ready, go to your Power Editor. Below are instructions for what to do at the campaign, ad set and ad levels.


  1. Click Create Campaign and give it a name.
  2. Under Objective, select Lead Generation. Keep in mind your buying type must be Auction.
  3. Click Create.


Ad set

  1. Create a new ad set and give it a name.
  2. At the ad set level, select your Page (you’ll need to accept the terms here to continue), Budget, Schedule, Audience, Placement, Optimization & Pricing and Delivery Type. Unlike other campaign types, you’ll only be able to select mobile placements. You also cannot target lead ads to people under the age of 18.


  1. Create a new ad and give it a name.
  2. Select your Facebook Page, Creative and Tracking.
  3. Under Lead Generation click Create New Form.
  1. Give your form a name, select a language, then click Next. Keep in mind the language you choose here is the language your audience will view your form in.
  2. Under What information would you like to ask for? you’ll see Full name and Email address are checked. You can also click More options if you want to ask for more info.


  1. When you’re finished adding questions (3 is the maximum), click Next.
  2. Add a link to your privacy policy and any additional disclaimers you may have, then click Add Destination.
  3. Enter the website URL you want people to go to after they complete your form, then click Preview Form.
  4. Navigate through your form and make changes if necessary.
  5. Click Create Form.
  6. Click Upload Changes at the top of Power Editor

In the coming weeks, lead ads will be available in new formats, including video and carousel, and also available on desktop, so businesses can collect ads from people on any device.
